K-12 Education
Are we taxing ourselves 1) to buy the educations our children need for bright futures, or 2) to provide financial security for a group of public employees? Most would answer "1", but "2" is almost certainly the reality in too many government schools.
The Rocky Mountain Foundation will report periodically on its examination of that question and many others surrounding K-12 education, such an important part of the foundation of our future.
Whether one's beliefs favor the limited government advocated by Abraham Lincoln ("... in all that people can individually do as well for themselves, Government ought not to interfere") or some form of collectivism, government spending, taxation and regulation are at the forefront of public policy debate.
In the category, So What's New? The Obama phenomenon was like a jet fighter's afterburner in adding thrust to discussion of press bias, most especially in what is called the Mainstream Media, or MSM.
President Obama's apparent determination to handicap sectors deemed hostile to the Left, like talk radio, will doubtless keep this subject front-and-center. It must be remembered that unrestrained public debate about governance was the Founders' leading objective in the First Amendment guarantees of freedom of speech and of the press.
