The Obama phenomenon was like a jet fighter's afterburner in adding thrust to discussion of press bias, most especially in what is called the Mainsream Media, or MSM.
President Obama's apparent determination to handicap sectors deemed hostile to the Left, like talk radio, will doubtless keep this subject front-and-center. It must be remembered that freedom to speak about government was the top objective of the speech and press guarantees in the First Amendment.

Ed Watsisname Working Hard to Keep GE's MSNBC at the Bottom
Ed Schultz, host of MSNBC's "The Ed Show," says, "They think we're stupid." Well, perhaps all in Ed's "we" aren't stupid, but one wouldn't know it from any evidence he provides. Watch him here resurrecting the old drumbeat of hatred against President George W. Bush, a man according to Ed who "sat there for eight years and did absolutely nothing about the number one issue in this country for families." And would that be terrorism brought to us by radical Islam? Naw, health care according to Ed!
Prepare for a good laugh as Ed, following a fine rebuttal by Tom Tancredo, calls himself the "fairest guy you can find!"

This cartoon by the Albuquerque Journal's great John Trever was published September 19, 2004. It took Dan Rather and CBS another six months, until March 9, 2005, to announce that Rather was resigning over the controversy depicted in Trever's cartoon, their eye-popping but disastrously careless story about President George W. Bush's service in the National Guard.
This was the cover of the September 15, 2008 issue of National Review. The issue included an article titled "Olbermann Broadcast Corporation," discussing the "hard-left" drag on NBC by Keith Olbermann, star of its MSNBC division.
One of today's highly entertaining topics is the continual carping by Olbermann and others on MSNBC against a network that is drubbing them in ratings, Fox News (Fix News, the shameless Olbermann calls it). Stockholders of NBC's parent, General Electric Company, were brutal at an annual meeting in their hooting of CEO Jeffrey Immelt over the network's transparent bias. Here's more on the GE story.
Letterman – Keeping CBS in the Race to the Bottom
Where does the hypocrisy – never mind the typical, in-bad-taste leftist hatred – end? Not to let NBC get too far ahead in the race to the bottom, CBS's resident cure for insomnia, David Letterman, took on Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and her two daughters, aged 14 and 18. That's the leftist bad taste part. But who is Letterman, whose own private life involves a woman he impregnated out of wedlock, to be sneering lasciviously about any female being "knocked up?"
Old Grey Lady – Less Obvious than Olbermann, but Far More Pernicious
The New York Times no longer deserves respect as a news source. To those with time and resources to investigate, the Old Grey Lady makes her biases clearly transparent with such things as stories she either carries or spikes, word choices, and myriad other artifices.
